Part-Time Account Clerk

Applications may be obtained and filed for this examination using the application under the Document link below or at Medina City Hall, Lower Level, 132 North Elmwood Avenue, Medina, from 8am until 4pm through Thursday, November 4, 2021.  Deadline to apply is at 4pm on November 4th. Testing will be on Saturday, November 6, 2021.

 

NATURE OF WORK:  Computerized account and record keeping, auditing, and related tasks within defined limits.  Will include considerable contact with the public, sometimes under stressful situations.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Good knowledge of clerical/account and record keeping procedures; office terminology, routines, and equipment; computer and typing skills; data entry skills.  Ability to work with fellow employees and general public.  Good judgement, accuracy, and integrity required.

 

NATURE OF EXAMINATION:  The written exam, weighted at 100%, will test for error detection, mathematics, address checking, grammar /word usage, and office and accounting procedures.  A passing grade of 70% or above is required to be ranked on a provisional eligible list.  A keyboard test, a data entry test and a Basic Excel test will be administered at a later date, depending on hiring needs, on a pass/fail basis. A skill level of 35CWPM on the Keyboard exam, 6,200KPH @ 95% accuracy for data entry and a score of 50% or better on the Office Excel 2019 exam are required to be eligible to remain on the eligible list.    

 

VETERANS PREFERENCE:  Any veteran of the U. S. Armed Forces who has been honorably discharged and who PASSES the examination may receive additional credit, provided proof of honorable discharge (DD-214) is presented and verified PRIOR to the written examination.

 

PROBATION:  The probationary period shall be regarded as an integral part of the examination process and shall be used to closely observe the employee's work, to give the employee full opportunity to demonstrate successful performance on the job, and to remove any employee whose performance does not meet required work standards.  No appointment shall be deemed final until the appointee has satisfactorily served the probationary period, from first work day, of not less than six months. This is an at-will position.
