REPAIRPERSON

Starting Salary: $22.79/hr Plus Health and Dental Benefits and receive paid holidays, earned sick, vacation & personal time. 2nd Shift, 8 hours per day with a rotating schedule.

 

Nature of Work: Performs routine building, equipment and property maintenance duties as assigned and in a manner that ensures a safe environment for students, staff and visitors of the District.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Acceptable results on BCI & FBI criminal background checks and completes enrollment in
  • One to three years of related work experience
  • Valid driver license and insurable under District
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as superintendent and/or board of education deem
  • Competitive testing for in-house candidates; civil service test for entry-level candidates

 

Essential Functions:

  • Performs routine building, equipment and property maintenance, installation and repair as assigned which may include: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding or carpentry work as well as work on roof, ceilings, masonry, concrete, compressors, unit ventilators, fans, etc….
  • Assists in maintaining the condition and appearance of District property and grounds by mowing, snow plowing, salting, fertilizing, preparing sports fields, painting, etc….
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repair of mowers, tractors, plows, small equipment, etc….
  • Performs work tasks using safe procedures and in compliance with the applicable safety and code requirements of all federal, state, local, and District entities to ensure a safe environment for students, staff and visitors.
  • Recommends purchase of needed equipment and repair
  • Performs or assists with major repairs as assigned

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Remains apprised District happenings by regularly checking and responding to emails in District Inbox.
  • Interacts in a professional and respectful manner with students, staff, and
  • Attends meetings and in-services as required and completes required training and classes timely to ensure working knowledge of District policy and appropriate use of various tools and chemicals.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively with others with diverse personalities or independently as the task

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills needed to understand assignments, convey ideas and clarify work tasks.
  • Ability to be flexible and use organizational and problem-solving skills to address work
  • Ability to work outside of normal work hours as needed with prior supervisor
  • Working knowledge of most of the building trades including: plumbing, electricity, welding, carpentry, roofing and HVAC.
  • Effective time management to plan daily work based on assigned work

 

Equipment Operated:

  • District vehicles, g. truck, tractor, snowplow, mowers, forklift, aerial lift, etc….
  • Various hand and power tools
  • Computer, two-way radio

 

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Frequently stands, sits, walks, talks, hears, sees (color vision required), reads, reaches, stretches, crouches, climbs, balances, kneels and stoops.
  • Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions including driving in inclement

Nature of Examination:  Written test is weighted at 100%. Passing grade is 70% or better. All test results and scores are subject to public record laws. Test will be given on June 23rd at 6pm.

 

Veterans Preference:  Any veteran of the U. S. Armed Forces who has been honorably discharged and who PASSES the test may receive an additional credit provided proof of honorable discharge (DD-214) is presented and verified prior to the date of the examination.

 

Probation:  All persons appointed to permanent positions are subject to a probationary period of 120 days worked.  The probationary period is an essential part of the examination process used for the effective adjustment of the employee and elimination of any probationer whose performance fails to meet required work standards.
