George Foley Presents Music Born in America
May 7: 6:30 pm

Medina Library, 210 South Broadway, 6:30 pm  

Pianist George Foley specializes in rag and stride piano style. He will share the story of the evolution of jazz through the early part of the twentieth century while performing this uniquely American art form as a part of the 250th American anniversary celebration. Sponsored by ORMACO and the Medina County District Library. Free admission.

 
Medina High School Strings in the Park

Bring your lunch and a lawn chair for a performance by the Medina High School’s Orchestra. In case of rain the performance will move to the Medina Performing Arts Center, 851 Weymouth Road. Free admission

Jazz Under the Stars

The Jazz Shepherds are a Cleveland jazz group with guitar, saxophones, bass, and drums. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics to enjoy this free concert.  Sponsored by ORMACO.

 
Medina Community Band Concerts

And the band plays on!!  Bring your lawn chair and be part of the award-winning Medina Community Band concerts that date back to 1859.  Medina Town Hall & Engine House Museum will be open prior to the concerts from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

 
4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration
June 13: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

A celebrity host will welcome visitors and entertainment to celebrate African American history and culture, and to recognize the end of slavery in the United States in 1865. Free admissions. The Town Hall & Engine House Museum will be open from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm.

 
Historic Walking Tour of Medina’s Underground Railroad
June 14: 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, &  4:00 PM

Starts at the Courthouse on the Square

Take a step back in time and discover Medina’s courageous role in the fight for freedom.  The tour will begin at the very spot where abolitionists Frederick Douglass and William Lloyd Garrison inspired Medina citizens to join the cause to end slavery.  Then pass the homes that once served as havens for freedom-seekers traveling to Canada. The tour concludes at Spring Grove Cemetery where four known Underground Railroad operatives are laid to rest.  Registration required.  Each of three tour groups is limited to 20 people. Sponsored by Medina Friends of the Cemetery.

 
Opera Under the Stars

50th Annual Medina Twin Sizzler Races
July 4: 7:45 am to 11:00 am

Medina Square

5K and 10K runs, and 27 Mile Bike Race that begins on the Square and travels throughout the city.

 
Spirit of ‘76 Celebration
July 4: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Old Town Graveyard, East Liberty Street

Military honor guard and taps, national anthem, laying of wreaths on Revolutionary War soldiers graves, Revolutionary War reenactors, colonial crafters, musical entertainment, small animals and shepherds, photo-op board, and kids’ activities.  Sponsored by Friends of the Cemetery.

 
Fourth of July Parade
July 4: 4 pm

From Medina High School to Square

Join the city in celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday with a parade that is led by the Spirit of ’76 and other Revolutionary War reenactors, floats, historic vehicles, and more.  Parade route begins at Medina High School and comes into the Square on East Liberty Street.  Come early to get a good location to watch the parade pass by. July 4: After the Parade

Medina Square

Stay on the Square after the parade and be part of history as we encircle the Square to form 250+ hands around Medina. We will take a drone shot of the event and make photos available for purchase. Sponsored by the City of Medina.

 
Medina Community Band Concert

Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the Medina Community Band as they celebrate America 250 with a special concert of patriotic music.  Free admission.

 
Second-Story Tours
July 18: 9:30 am to 5:30 pm

Walking Tour to Five Locations

Tour groups of 8 to 10 persons will gather at the Town Hall and Engine House Museum and leave every half hour with a guide to tour five second story locations. Tour is not ADA accessible, stairs required. Sponsored by America 250 Committee. Tickets required. $5.  Medina Town Hall & Engine House Museum will be open until 5:30 pm.

 

August - Medina Goes to the Fair and More!

180th Medina County Fair
August 3 thru 9: 8:00 am to 11:00 pm

Medina County Fair, 720 West Smith Road

Medina County Fair with livestock exhibitions, art, crafts, photography, antiques, free entertainment, nightly grandstand shows, food, rides, and fun.  Visitors must pay  for admission, rides, and food.  Sponsored by the Medina County Agricultural Society.

 

Affair on the Square
August 9: 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

Medina Uptown Park

Stroll through the beautiful historic square while browsing through the more than 170 booths of handmade crafts and vintage finds. Stars Hollow Fest

Black Cat Books and Oddities takes you retro to celebrate the Gilmore Girls with live music, dancing, literary costumes, authors, and over 100 vendors, including food vendors. Medina Town Hall & Engine House Museum will be open from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
