US 42 (Court Street) Resurfacing & ADA Improvements
Wednesday, October 23, 2024The Ohio Department of Transportation in coordination with the City of Medina Engineering Department is planning to resurface Court Street (US 42) from Lafayette Street (SR 3) to approximately 300 feet north of West Homestead Street in the City of Medina. The work to be completed includes localized partial and full depth pavement replacement, asphalt milling, asphalt resurfacing, sidewalk repairs at existing curb ramps, localized curb replacement, ADA facility upgrades for each intersection, signal modifications for pedestrian buttons, drive approach replacement (as needed), and improved pavement markings. The project will include pedestrian bumpouts extending the curb at each pedestrian crossing into Court Street and Broadway Street (between Washington Street and East Liberty Street) effectively making the pedestrian crossing shorter. ODOT Safety Funding will provide supplemental funding to applicable items, further reducing costs to the City of Medina. Construction is scheduled to begin after April 1, 2026, and be completed by August 1, 2026. Right of Way Acquistion will not be required for this project. Traffic will be maintained during construction including pedestrian access, business access, and residential access following ODOT Standard Construction Drawings.
Residents and business owners in the area may view the draft pedestrian recommendation exhibit at Public Square HERE.
