The City of Medina has approximately 1,400 inlet catch basins and 689 man-holes. A general rule of thumb allows or assumes an average of 1 man-hole per 500 foot of storm sewer and 2 inlet catch basins per 500 foot of storm sewer. The City also has approximately 35 individually owned detention ponds.
Storm sewer problems and flooding are handled as a priority. Facilitating a storm sewer includes run-off water from streets, parking lots, residential, commercial and industrial downspouts, as well as footer drains. Storm sewers are designed to handle clean, untreated water only. Water flows through the City storm sewer system eventually draining into streams, creeks, ponds, and lakes.
